In 2012, my husband Martin Peterson’s false accuser and the “outcry witness” were deposed. Florida State Attorney Brad King’s assistant attorney Erin Corcoran Daly showed the teens the two disclosure notes – the only evidence in his case – and they identified opposite notes. Two months later, knowing the teens were lying, ASA Daly: (1) Offered a plea of probation time, which Martin refused; (2) Filed an “Amended Information” page swearing that her facts were facts, which she knew were lies; (3) Reversed and relabeled the notes, removing Deputy Kramer’s initials; (4) Testified falsely at Martin’s trial to the order the notes were written; and (5) Showed the notes to the accuser, who also testified falsely. Martin was convicted and spent over 4 years in prison for a phony crime that ASA Daly fabricated. He was released in 2016 because we uncovered misconduct by the jury Foreperson. In 2017, we filed a Complaint with The Florida Bar, providing black/white proof that ASA Daly committed criminal Contempt of Court. Our Complaint was dismissed by attorneys Maura Canter, Shanell Schuyler and Christopher Hinckley, without demanding that ASA Daly answer for her crime. We then provided the evidence to State Attorney Brad King and the Hernando County Professionalism Panel. No response. We filed a Complaint with AG Pam Bondi’s office and received a response from General Counsel James J. Schneider, who said he referred the matter to Honorable Brad King, asking that he “take such actions as appear to be in the best interest of the constituents of that Circuit.” Again, no response from Mr. King. We then emailed the evidence to Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran. Within the hour, he responded and said: “My record against government corruption is well documented. I suggest you call the Florida Bar and ask for a referral for an attorney to represent you. To the extent you wrote me given the prosecutors name, rest assured we are of no relation and I do not know her.” We emailed the evidence of corruption to Supreme Court Clerk John Tomasino, who responded the same day and said: “If you have a complaint regarding the handling of an investigation by The Florida Bar, you may contact Adria Quintela, Director of Lawyer Regulation.” The next day, we emailed the evidence to Ms. Quintela. No response. A week later, we mailed her again. Still, no response. It is painfully evident that no one wants to be the one to hold Assistant State Attorney Erin Corcoran Daly accountable for her crime against the Court. This grievous matter has become the “hot potato” that keeps getting tossed from one office to another. However, when a government entity or elected official receives a Complaint from the public/their constituents, the professional and ethical thing to do would be to acknowledge receipt of the evidence, then investigate and take the appropriate action, to ensure that our Constitutional rights are upheld. Otherwise, it appears that they either do not care about our civil liberties or they are co-conspirators to the crime.
